Wyndham Championship Heads Into Sunday Finale in Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Wyndham Championship reaches its final round Sunday at Sedgefield Country Club, bringing one of the Triad’s signature annual sporting events to its finish and closing the PGA TOUR regular season.

The 2026 tournament marks the 87th edition of North Carolina’s oldest professional golf event. Its place at the end of the regular-season calendar gives the Greensboro stop added weight: the Wyndham Championship helps determine the 70 players who qualify for the FedExCup Playoffs.

That makes Sunday important well beyond the trophy. Players near the postseason cutoff are competing for their place in the playoff field while the tournament champion adds another name to an event whose history includes Sam Snead, Ben Hogan, Gary Player and other major figures in the game.

The championship is contested on the Donald Ross-designed course at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro. The tournament’s official schedule lists Sunday, August 9, as the final day of the 2026 event.

For the Triad, the final round caps another week in which Greensboro has been at the center of the professional golf calendar — with both a tournament title and the PGA TOUR’s final regular-season playoff picture being settled at Sedgefield.
