High Point Exploring Local Blueway, Asks Residents for Input

HIGH POINT, N.C. — High Point Parks & Recreation is exploring whether the city should develop a local Blueway and is asking residents to help shape the idea through a community survey.

A Blueway is a designated water trail with public access points for activities such as paddling, fishing and nature recreation. City officials say the survey is intended to measure community interest in water-based recreation and learn which activities and amenities residents would most like to see.

The city is also asking about potential barriers that could keep people from using a future Blueway. Parks & Recreation says the short survey will help staff better understand how residents might use such a recreational resource before the concept moves forward.

The city announced the outreach Aug. 19. Residents interested in the proposal can find the Blueway survey through the High Point Parks & Recreation section of the city website.
