Charlotte FC added a major attacking piece this summer when the club signed French forward Allan Saint-Maximin to a three-year Designated Player contract running through the 2028-29 season.
The July 13 signing gave The Crown a player with extensive experience at a high level, including time in the English Premier League. Charlotte FC described Saint-Maximin as an elite attacking talent whose speed, creativity and technical ability can give the club another way to break down opponents.
Saint-Maximin occupies both a Designated Player slot and an international roster slot. His résumé also includes a French Cup title, and he arrives in Charlotte as one of the most recognizable additions of the club’s season.
For supporters following Charlotte FC’s second-half push, the bigger question now is how the new attacker fits into the club’s front line as MLS play resumes and the stretch run develops.
