WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Former Wake Forest football players made an impact across the NFL in Week 2, with tight end Blake Whiteheart and running back Kenneth Walker III headlining the Demon Deacons' latest ProDeacs roundup. Whiteheart caught a 17-yard touchdown with 3:51 remaining to put Cleveland ahead of Tampa Bay 23-19, a score that held up as the game winner. It was the second touchdown of Whiteheart's NFL career. Walker continued his strong start with Kansas City, rushing 24 times for 117 yards and adding six catches for 61 yards in an overtime win over Indianapolis. Wake Forest Athletics reports Walker leads the NFL through two weeks in both rushing yards, with 290, and yards from scrimmage, with 369. Former Deacons Justin Strnad and Branson Combs also met in Denver's win over Jacksonville, with Strnad recording seven tackles and a tackle for loss and Combs making two tackles.
