Wake Forest Adds Elite Shot Blocker Justin Abson to Men's Basketball Roster

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Wake Forest men's basketball announced Wednesday that graduate transfer Justin Abson has joined the Demon Deacons for the 2026-27 season.

The 6-foot-9 forward arrives after two seasons at Georgia and two earlier seasons at App State. Wake Forest says Abson has 239 career blocked shots, a total that ranked fourth among active Division I players after last season.

Abson averaged 1.6 blocks per game for Georgia in 2025-26, ranking third in the SEC, and shot 63.5 percent from the field. He was the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year at App State in 2024.

Wake Forest notes that Abson is currently eligible for a fifth season under a temporary preliminary injunction in Indiana, but that his permanent availability could be affected by future rulings in the ongoing litigation.
