North Carolina’s Gang Prevention and Intervention Task Force is bringing its next meeting to Winston-Salem on Tuesday, September 1.

The Governor’s Crime Commission lists the meeting for 1-4 p.m. at the Winston-Salem Marriott, 425 N. Cherry St. The state says conference registration is not required to attend the task force meeting.

The 20-member task force was established by Gov. Josh Stein in August 2025 and is focused on reducing the presence and impact of gang activity across North Carolina, with an emphasis on prevention, intervention and keeping young people from becoming involved in gangs.

The group includes representatives from law enforcement, education, health care, behavioral health, local government and community organizations. Forsyth County is represented among the task force membership, adding a local connection as the group meets in Winston-Salem.

The meeting is scheduled just days before the Labor Day weekend and ahead of the task force’s next listed meeting in November.
