North Carolina A&T's volleyball team continued its turnaround Friday night with a 3–0 home victory over UNC Wilmington at Moore Gymnasium in Greensboro. The Aggies won 25–21, 25–22 and 28–26, extending their winning streak to three matches after an 0–4 start to Coastal Athletic Association play. The result moved A&T to 8–10 overall and 3–4 in the conference, keeping the team within reach of the league tournament race.
Junior Agata Zwierzynska delivered a career performance with 16 kills and a .520 hitting percentage. Teammate Tyne Ross contributed 15 kills, eight digs and two blocks, while Zariah Winton added ten kills. The production from three attackers helped A&T record 46 total kills to UNCW's 34, and the Aggies hit .240 for the match compared with .141 for the visitors.
The first two sets gave A&T control, but the third nearly turned into a prolonged contest. The Aggies led 18–11 and then 23–16 before UNCW scored seven consecutive points to tie the set at 23. The Seahawks earned set points at 25–24 and 26–25, threatening to force a fourth set. A&T responded under pressure, and Ross delivered consecutive kills to close the set 28–26 and secure the sweep.
The third-set escape mattered beyond the final score. Conference standings are tightly packed, and the top six teams, following tiebreakers, qualify for the CAA tournament in November at Campbell University. A&T entered the weekend tied in the middle of the standings; UNCW fell to 10–10 overall and 4–3 in league play after the defeat. The Aggies' three-match winning streak followed a difficult opening stretch of conference losses.
Zwierzynska was particularly effective early, collecting eight first-set kills without an attack error in ten attempts. Defensively, Nicole Ellis finished with four total blocks, and Valeria Estrada recorded 12 digs. A&T's ability to win the close third set showed progress in late-point execution, an area that can separate teams in the middle of the CAA table.
A&T went on to win the separate Saturday rematch 3–1, completing a two-match sweep of UNC Wilmington. The Saturday final is a distinct event with its own verified report. Friday's straight-set result and individual statistics are confirmed by the A&T athletics department.
