Greensboro Business Leaders Put Research, Innovation and Talent Retention in Focus

Research, innovation and keeping college graduates in Greensboro took center stage at the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce's 2026 State of Our Community luncheon.

Nearly 1,000 business and civic leaders attended Wednesday's event at the Koury Convention Center, according to WFDD.

UNCG Chancellor Franklin Gilliam and N.C. A&T Chancellor James Martin discussed the role local universities can play in Greensboro's economic growth. Gilliam emphasized stronger connections between graduates and local employers, while Martin raised concerns about research and intellectual property generating economic value outside North Carolina.

The Chamber also introduced a new research and data platform intended to give local businesses additional market information and tools.
