WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools says counseling and other support personnel are available after a 17-year-old Forsyth County high school student was indicted in connection with the May mass shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego.
Authorities say the shooting left three men dead and one person injured. Investigators say a grand jury indicted 17-year-old Sarah Santiago on one count of conspiracy and three counts of murder for allegedly aiding and abetting the attack. She is being tried as an adult.
Investigators allege Santiago knew the attack was going to occur and did not alert authorities. They also allege her role included distributing recordings of the attack and the shooters’ manifesto afterward.
WS/FCS said counselors and other support personnel are available for students and staff who may be affected by the case. The investigation remains ongoing.
