GREENSBORO, N.C. — Improvements are underway at Fisher Park through a partnership between Greensboro Parks and Recreation and The Contemporary Foundation.

The first phase focuses on the west side of the park near Victoria Street and includes a bluestone gathering patio with wall seating, upgraded entry landscaping and stonework, and a four-season garden designed with native plants. Greensboro sculptor Jim Gallucci is also creating a custom metal sculpture, ‘Divine Wind,’ for an entrance from Fisher Park Circle.

The city will add an accessible pathway and parking space along Fisher Park Circle. Work began this week with removal of about 11 trees needed for construction or because of their condition or invasive classification. The plan calls for 30 new canopy trees in the west park section.

Construction will continue through 2026 and into 2027. The section nearest Fisher Park Circle and Victoria Street will be closed during the work. The project builds on the city’s 2022 Fisher Park master plan.
