East Salem Avenue Closes in Winston-Salem for Drainage Improvements

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Drivers in Winston-Salem are being asked to use an alternate route while a section of East Salem Avenue is closed for drainage work.

The City of Winston-Salem says East Salem Avenue between City Yard Drive and Main Street closed at 9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, while the Streets and Stormwater Department performs drainage system improvements.

The work is expected to be completed by Thursday, Sept. 24, although the road could reopen sooner if crews finish ahead of schedule. The city says the closure could also be extended if additional time is needed.

A posted detour uses Old Salem Road, Main Street and Cemetery Street. Traffic-control measures will remain in place throughout the work zone, and motorists are encouraged to plan ahead.
