DURHAM, N.C. — Duke opened ACC play with a dominant 35-7 victory over Stanford Saturday at Wallace Wade Stadium, improving to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
Running back Nate Sheppard rushed for 154 yards and two touchdowns and added a receiving score, giving him three touchdowns in the game. Quarterback Walker Eget completed 14 of 24 passes for 202 yards and a touchdown.
Duke piled up 470 total yards, including 268 on the ground, while holding Stanford to 237 total yards. The Blue Devils' defense recorded four sacks and limited the Cardinal to 73 rushing yards.
The victory was Duke's fifth consecutive win in an ACC opener and extended the program's overall winning streak to seven games. Duke hosts William & Mary on Sept. 26.
