WASHINGTON — Charlotte FC earned a 2-1 road victory over D.C. United Saturday night at Audi Field, giving head coach Dean Smith his 50th win in all competitions with the club.

Ashley Westwood opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, striking from the top of the box for his third goal of the season. Goalkeeper Kristijan Kahlina made five saves in the first half as D.C. United pressed for an equalizer.

The victory continued Charlotte's strong late-season form as The Crown heads back to the Queen City.
