Toklomati’s Late Winner Lifts Charlotte FC Past CF Montréal 2-1

MONTRÉAL — Charlotte FC rallied for a 2-1 road victory over CF Montréal Wednesday night at Stade Saputo, with Idan Toklomati delivering the winner in the 81st minute.

Former Charlotte striker Daniel Ríos put Montréal in front in the 34th minute, heading home a Luca Petrasso cross. The Crown answered just three minutes later when Allan Saint-Maximin led a counterattack and found Liel Abada, whose shot went in off the underside of the crossbar to make it 1-1.

Charlotte broke the tie in the 81st minute. David Schnegg found space on the left and sent a cross toward the penalty spot, where Toklomati redirected it into the net for the 2-1 lead.

The victory extended Charlotte’s MLS unbeaten run to six matches at 4-0-2. Charlotte has lost just once in its last 11 league games, a stretch that includes seven victories.

The Crown next travels to FC Cincinnati on Saturday as the club continues its three-match road trip.
