BOONE, N.C. — App State is adding a new pregame fan zone to Saturday football game days, with Yosef’s Yard Party debuting ahead of the Sept. 5 home opener against Maine.
The free event will be held on the residence hall lawn across Jack Branch Drive from Kidd Brewer Stadium. It opens three hours before kickoff and closes 15 minutes before kickoff.
For the Sept. 5 debut, App State says fans can get free ice cream bars, meet student-athletes during an autograph session from 1:30-3 p.m., hear live music from App State alumnus Adam Church and join the football team on the field after the game. Kickoff against Maine is 3:30 p.m.
Regular Yard Party features include yard games, a bounce house, music, appearances by Yosef, the cheer team and Marching Mountaineers, food and dessert trucks, merchandise and free posters.
The event is planned for Saturday home games this season but not the Thursday, Oct. 22 game against James Madison. For Mountaineer fans making the trip to Boone, the new area creates a free family-friendly gathering spot close to The Rock before kickoff.
