App State Launches Football Fridays Fan Lunch Series With Steve Wilks, Dowell Loggains

BOONE, N.C. — App State football fans will have a new way to connect with the program this fall through a six-event Football Fridays lunch series tied to Mountaineer home games.

The series begins Friday, Sept. 4 at Town Tavern in Banner Elk with App State alumnus and current Special Assistant to Athletics Steve Wilks. Wilks, a former NFL head coach and Carolina Panthers interim head coach, will headline most of the dates. Head coach Dowell Loggains is scheduled to appear at the Oct. 9 event at Rivers Street Ale House in Boone.

Other stops are planned for Blowing Rock, West Jefferson and Morganton. The Oct. 22 lunch will be held on a Thursday at Rivers Street Ale House because App State hosts James Madison that night in a nationally televised game.

Attendees will pay $25 at the door for lunch and water, with additional beverages available for purchase. App State is encouraging fans to RSVP for the opening event.

The program adds another regular fan-access opportunity during a season in which App State opens at home Sept. 5 against Maine and hosts six games at Kidd Brewer Stadium.
