GREENVILLE, N.C. — App State takes its first road trip of the 2026 season Saturday when the Mountaineers face East Carolina at noon at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.
App State enters 1-0 after a 55-3 win over Maine, while ECU is 0-1 after opening with a 48-10 loss at No. 12 Alabama. The game will be televised on ESPNU, and App State says tickets remain available for Mountaineer fans making the trip.
Saturday concludes a four-game series between the in-state programs. App State won 33-19 in Charlotte in 2021, 43-28 in Boone in 2023 and rallied from a 16-0 deficit for a 21-19 victory at ECU in 2024.
Quarterback Malachi Singleton made a strong App State debut last week, completing 22 of 24 passes for 291 yards and three touchdowns in less than three full quarters. Five Mountaineer tight ends combined for 12 catches and 164 yards, and the defense held Maine without a first down until the final three minutes of the first half.
ECU is led by quarterback Mitch Griffis, a former Wake Forest starter, and features a new offensive coordinator in Jordan Davis after his North Texas offense ranked among the nation’s most productive units last season.
