GREENVILLE, N.C. — App State held off East Carolina 27-24 Saturday afternoon at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium, giving the Mountaineers their fourth straight victory in the in-state series.
Quarterback Malachi Singleton passed for 267 yards and scored on a 4-yard run as App State improved to 2-0. The Mountaineers scored three rushing touchdowns and capitalized on two ECU turnovers.
After an East Carolina fumble in the red zone, Singleton’s touchdown gave App State a 10-7 lead early in the second quarter. Jaquari Lewis added a 10-yard touchdown run on the Mountaineers’ next possession after an 83-yard drive.
East Carolina made a late push, but App State’s defense produced another key takeaway when Dre Walker intercepted a pass at the Mountaineers’ 9-yard line with 2:16 remaining. ECU later scored with 21 seconds left, but App State preserved the three-point victory.
The win extends App State’s run over ECU to four consecutive games and keeps the Mountaineers unbeaten through the first two weeks of the 2026 season.
