App State Improves to 3-0 With 26-21 Win Over Charlotte After Late-Night Kickoff

BOONE, N.C. — App State improved to 3-0 early Sunday morning with a 26-21 victory over Charlotte in a Black Saturday game delayed deep into the night.

Quarterback Malachi Singleton threw for 331 yards as the Mountaineers built a 19-point fourth-quarter lead before holding off a late Charlotte rally. The victory gives App State its first 3-0 start since 2019.

The unusual night also produced the latest kickoff in Kidd Brewer Stadium history, turning Black Saturday into an early-morning Black Sunday finish.
