North Carolinians could get one of the year’s best skywatching opportunities overnight Wednesday into Thursday as the Perseid meteor shower reaches its annual peak.

North Carolina is among the U.S. areas expected to see a partial solar eclipse Wednesday, Aug. 12, as a total eclipse crosses parts of Greenland, Iceland, Russia, Spain and Portugal.
